My Way News - Voting for president begins in pivotal Ohio

My Way News - Voting for president begins in pivotal Ohio: "In the state that may again determine the presidency, voters started casting ballots Tuesday as Barack Obama struggles to thwart a John McCain victory in Ohio four years after it tipped the election to President Bush."

This is an absolute outrage. There is a reason that elections are supposed to be on a certain day, and nobody should be casting votes until each candidate has a thorough vetting in adss, press, etc. What if more revelations come out about a candidate the weeks or days, prior to the Election Day? What if the public hasn't fully digested the political ads that have yet-to-be aired? Not only that, but I see the system open to massive fraud. In the not-so-old days, a fraudster might have a difficult time making the rounds to multiple polling stations on one particular day, but if they had 36 days to do it, think how much easier it is to vote on behalf of dead people, especially without the Photo ID requirement? What a fraud, Ohio

Commentary: Bankruptcy, not bailout, is the right answer - CNN.com

Commentary: Bankruptcy, not bailout, is the right answer - CNN.com: "This bailout was a terrible idea. Here's why.

The current mess would never have occurred in the absence of ill-conceived federal policies. The federal government chartered Fannie Mae in 1938 and Freddie Mac in 1970; these two mortgage lending institutions are at the center of the crisis. The government implicitly promised these institutions that it would make good on their debts, so Fannie and Freddie took on huge amounts of excessive risk.

Worse, beginning in 1977 and even more in the 1990s and the early part of this century, Congress pushed mortgage lenders and Fannie/Freddie to expand subprime lending. The industry was happy to oblige, given the implicit promise of federal backing, and subprime lending soared."

Iran’s Role in 9/11 Attack

Newsmax.com – Iran’s Role in 9/11 Attack: "In an auspicious passage that went virtually unreported at the time, the 9/11 Commission revealed in July 2004 that they “now have evidence suggesting that 8 to 10 of the 14 Saudi ‘muscle’ operatives traveled into or out of Iran between October 2000 and February 2001.”"

Covering Your Fannie, Who Really Caused Our Economic Crisis?

Another devastating video, that will likely get pulled.

I'm sure this will be taken down soon too. You know how much TimeWarner and Universal are adamant supporters of Freedom of Speech ...

American Thinker Blog: You Tube pulls a popular anti-Democrat video off the web (updated): "You Tube and Warner Music Group today pulled a highly popular video that very succinctly and clearly spelled out the roots of the current economic crisis.

The 9:59 video entitled 'Burning Down the House: What Caused Our Economic Crisis' played four different songs under a fast moving video sequence that very clearly tied Democrats like Chris Dodd, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson and Barack Obama to policies and corruption related to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It cleverly showed how the 'affordable mortgage' programs sent an economic virus through the entire economy and showed Republican efforts to intervene and regulate being blocked.

For Obama and all congressional Democrats, it was a devastating video."

Can Congress Fix A Problem It Caused?

IBDeditorials.com: Editorials, Political Cartoons, and Polls from Investor's Business Daily -- Can Congress Fix A Problem It Caused?: "Nothing could more painfully demonstrate what is wrong with Congress than the current financial crisis.

Among the congressional 'leaders' invited to the White House to devise a bailout 'solution' are the very people who have for years created the risks that have come home to roost.

Five years ago, Barney Frank vouched for the 'soundness' of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and said 'I do not see' any 'possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury.'

Moreover, he said the federal government has 'probably done too little rather than too much to push them to meet the goals of affordable housing.'"

McCain's Biggest Debate Mistake

I think the biggest problem McCain had in the debate, was not addressing some of the Democratic talking points head on ... Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or Al Qaeda, Bush/McCain said it was going to be easy, there were no WMDs, Bush tricked Congressional Democrats to approve military action by cooking to books, etc ... These lies have been so effective repeated by the, ah-hem, "loyal" opposition, that they have become accepted truths.

I was stunned to see John McCain let the following accusations go un-answered:

And so John likes -- John, you like to pretend like the war started in 2007. You talk about the surge. The war started in 2003, and at the time when the war started, you said it was going to be quick and easy. You said we knew where the weapons of mass destruction were. You were wrong.

You said that we were going to be greeted as liberators. You were wrong. You said that there was no history of violence between Shiite and Sunni. And you were wrong ...

(What's with the "John" crap? Obama's smugness is sickening.)

Don't get me wrong, I think John McCain did well, overall. I thought it was good for him to rattle off his many experienced and tough (often correct) positions he took in the past. He was correct to bring up the Obama issue of meeting with Ahmandinejad without preconditions, but I felt he didn't explain it well.

Burning Down The House: What Caused Our Economic Crisis?

You have to watch the whole thing ... Unbelievable account of the economic mess Liberals/Leftists/Democrats wrought on the American Economy. McCain could win in a landslide if he had the guts to go for the jugular, instead of pandering to his magnanimous "bi-partisanship." YOU MUST WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO. Even a caveman could understand this.

English philosopher Herbert Spencer said, "The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools."

Yes, the VILLAGE VOICE pins the blame on ... Democrats?

Andrew Cuomo and Fannie and Freddie

How the Meltdown began . . .

American Thinker: Andrew Cuomo and John McCain: "The supposed deregulation that caused this mess was the loosening of mortgage underwriting standards directed by Andrew Cuomo, the Clinton Administration, and the Democratic Party. Every time that anyone from the Bush Administration to John McCain himself pointed out the fact that a disaster was coming, they were ridiculed, and whatever reform they tried to introduce was defeated. John McCain knows this."

Hmmm ... I bought my first home in 1998. (VA Loan)

U.S. mortgage meltdown's cause

Guess again who's to blame for U.S. mortgage meltdown: "While many pundits are pointing to corporate greed and a lack of government regulation as the cause for the American mortgage and financial crisis, some analysts are saying it wasn't too little government intervention that cased the mortgage meltdown, but too much, in the form of activists compelling the government to pressure Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae into unsound – though politically correct – lending practices."

My Recent Letter to Newt . . .

Mr. Speaker:

I know YOU did not underestimate the Clinton political machine this election cycle, and I probably sound a bit nutty, but I still cannot count them out. I honestly felt the Clintons worked in tandem with "independent" Perot in 1992. I felt the electorate was scammed. Thankfully, the Clinton Presidency led to your (recently squandered) Republican Revolution.

Anyway, my fear all along this time around was that the Clintons would find a way to "rescue" the Democratic ticket through a variety of yet-to-be-revealed October Surprises. I can't help but recall the Lautenberg-Torricelli switch-a-roo in 2002. In a way, the plan is brilliant, in that Hillary will have been able to avoid the scrutiny and the slings and arrows of a full-scale campaign. Obama will suffer all the attacks from the Right, while Hillary will emerged unscathed and savior-like. The attacks from the right will occur too little too late.

Is this scenario possible? Or are there any rules that might prohibit any last minute changes to the top of the ticket? Apparently, the rules meant nothing to the NJ Supreme Court in 2002.

Sincerely,

Ed

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Whose policies led to the credit crisis?: "The credit crisis and the lack of oversight over government-subsidized lenders like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac occurred on the watch of George Bush, and many blame his economic team for their lack of oversight in the collapse. Barack Obama has made this point one of his major campaign themes, arguing that John McCain would provide more of the same failures that Bush did. However, what many do not recall is that Bush wanted to tighten oversight with a new regulatory board for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and other government recipients for the express purpose of addressing bad loan practices — and Democrats blocked it."

Report: US about to strike Iran; Tehran warns of World War III

Report: US about to strike Iran; Tehran warns of World War III: "A major Dutch newspaper reported on Monday that the Dutch intelligence agency AIVD recently pulled all of its operatives out of Iran after learning that an American air strike on Iranian nuclear and missile production facilities is imminent.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported that AIVD had previously been conducting a very successful sabotage operation against Iran's production of medium and long-range missiles.

According to the report, AIVD pulled out of Iran after being warned that the country's missile factories would be among the targets hit by unmanned American bombers 'within weeks.'"
